Enrollment in the Lawrence public schools is up by 214 students with increases at the virtual schools — often areas of growth — and at several elementary schools. But both high schools saw enrollment go down.
Thursday was the district’s official enrollment head-count day. A state-audited version of the numbers, likely not done until spring, determines the amount of funding each school gets, said Julie Boyle, communications director for the district. Base state aid is $3,838 per year, per pupil. That’s up from the previous rate of $3,780 per student, but down from the 2008-09 school year rate of $4,400.
